Drive across the Border....

After having a good hearty breakfast we settled our hotel bill when the hotel staff asked "Where are you going next?"

We replied 'Barcelona'

We set off, and took the National road rather than going on the motorway.

There wasn't too much traffic until we were nearing Barcelona, then we decided to switch to the C32 Toll motorway.

We found ourselves parking up at the hotel in Barcelona, within 4 hours of leaving Perpignan. Which was fine, as we were in no hurry.

We're staying very near Las Ramblas which we hope to explore tomorrow.

This afternoon we walked along the wooden pier to the Maremagnum Shopping and Leisure Centre that juts out in the sea. It was bustling with visitors, we found a restaurant and sat out in the sun tasting the Catalonian cuisine.

We are staying not far from Placa del la Porta de Pau. This is where Christopher Columbus stands on top of a 197ft column pointing out to sea. I had always thought he was pointing to the New World he had discovered but we noticed America had to be in a different direction. He must be just pointing out to sea!

We crossed the swing bridge and found somewhere to have lunch overlooking the harbour.
