Winter Walk at Anglesey Abbey....

Sunday 27th September 2015

Luck would have it, we woke to another bright day. Whilst washing our dishes, using the sites facilities we learnt from a fellow camper that Anglesey Abbey was worth a visit.  This seemed a good idea, especially as again, we could take advantage of our National Trust membership.

We found Anglesey Abbey, north east of Cambridge, not far from our site. It was very popular we were asked to park in the overflow carpark.

After wandering around, which in fact is a country house, formerly a priory, it became very apparent that Lord Fairhaven,  the former owner, liked clocks and paintings of the Windsor Castle. He was also an avid collector of silverware.

We walked the grounds, and came across very interesting and innovating Dahlia floral displays. Sorry no pics, but you may find some on the link above.

Couldn't resist taking a pic of these Silver Birches. It looks like they are expanding the walk through the Birches. It is quite spectacular, even now. Would imagine in the winter and early Spring it would look magical with underplanted bulbs!
