Afternoon Tea in Bedford...

What better place to take Afternoon Tea, then Bedford.

Did you know, that it was Anna Maria, (the 7th Duchess of Bedford) who was the originator of the British  "Afternoon Tea".

It was fashionable at that time for the evening meal to be served about 8 o'clock. The Duchess found the long wait for dinner too long and one day asked that a tray of tea, bread and butter and cakes be brought to her room. This became a habit of hers and she began inviting her friends to join her. This became a fashionable social event during the 1880's for the upper-class and society women between the hours of four and five o'clock.

Before we took tea, we went for a walk along the embankment and came across a very interesting Museum. We spent a good hour and half in there and could have spent more time.
