Sure enough, the Whitehouse Beach Caravan Club site was equipped with a good selection of local and cultural information. We chose to visit the local Aviation Museum at Flixton.

We spent several hours looking around this interesting aircraft museum. Lots of interest not only looking at the fine selection of aircraft, but also the hangars were packed with memorabilia. Photographs and letters portraying the lives of military people based at the airfield years ago.

Boulton & Paul P.6 was built by the company in 1918. 1st May 1919, the day the Air Navigation Act came into force, the P.6 made the first official business flight in Great Britain. Flying the B&P Sales Manager (Mr R. McWilliams) from Norwich to Bury St Edmunds to complete a business deal and back. |
This is of particular interest to me (Kaye). Boulton and Paul is a name I know from the far and distant past, when I worked in the Timber Trade. Boulton and Paul were major players in buying timber. They manufactured doors, window frames and stairs at the company's factories.
