Booted up and set off on foot from the site to Charmouth. We had taken a few notes from the map, Chris and Liz had lent us. Two and half hours later, we were walking down the main street in Charmouth.
After lunch, we decided to take bus no 31 back to Hunters lodge at Raymonds Hill, near our site.

Weather looking good, it was time to uncover the bikes!
We followed the cycle trail for a few miles and then veered off for a climb up Champernhayes Lane, up through woods. Having no map, we took the road to Hawkchurch and stopped off in the churchyard. Thats where I discovered I had a puncture!
This was our second puncture between us, since purchasing the bikes. Luckily, Ant was well prepared and had the inner tube replaced in no time.

Puncture... No problem |
We were back on our way, heading to Axminster. It was downhill most of the way, great fun!
In the town, we stopped off again in a churchyard and ate our packed lunch.
The only way out of Axminster was to climb! We took the route up to the A35 and then along to Hunters Lodge at Raymond's Hill. It was a long climb, in gear 1 but made it without stopping!
Along the way, Ant encountered a chap in a convertible Mercedes who was waiting to turn out of a side road but had to wait for him to cycle by. He shouted out 'Can't you peddle any faster'? Ant replied 'Would if I could!' puff, puff.....
